Abandon Ship!

Monday's as a general rule are crappy but today takes the cake!

As I sit here typing this let me give you an idea of the conditions:

Our building is having its roof replaced (and has been for months now) due to the age and damage received from the over abundance of storms. Early this morning a rain storm came into Pensacola and it still persists.

I waded into the office to find that the building was not in much better shape than the parking lot. Most classrooms and offices have leaks in them some worse than others. The greatest part of it is that the largest leaks occur right over our two main labs. Thank God for plastic sheeting!

I am sitting in a building without power, water coming down all around me, and the stench of wet molding carpet permeates the air.

I am told that the power is out because water is coming in on the fuse box, but strangely enough only the circuits controlling the lights are affected.

They say that we will have classes at noon but I do not see that happening. The fuse box has to dry out for them to work on it and the water has to stop coming in the building for the box to dry out and the rain has to stop for the water to stop. None of these things look as thought they are going to happen any time soon.

This building is a sinking ship that we should all abandon and take to the life rafts before someone gets stuck going down with the ship.

Phew....

I know that I have not posted in quite a while but things have been happening so fast that I can barely keep up, forget about finding the time to write about them. So I am just going to touch on a couple of the bigs ones and hopefully I will have time later in the week to write about some funny and interesting things. So here goes:

Classes are speeding along at a frightening speed.

I was appointed and sworn in as the Student Government Association's Public Relations Director.

My job is still completely a bore but at least now I have students on campus to break up the time.

My outlook on life continues, on a daily basis, to revise itself.

I think that Java Programming is the most horrible thing anyone could take a class on...

I think that I might even have **gasp** get a tutor for Java...

I don't get tutors...I don't even know how to get one...

Guess there really is a first time for everything!

Talked to a friend that I have heard from in a while. IT was great...she has a sweet job opportunity that I think she would be awesome for...

Speaking of Jobs a birdie told me that the ME for the JCF is hitting the pavement!?!?!

The student newspaper is in a state of serious disrepair since I stepped down as editor...

It is hard to watch something that you worked so hard to build and make credible be completely reversed in under a month.

Finally after years of waiting my brother has got his wish!!!!!!!!!!

This made me literally shout for joy when I found out...

Of course that was only after I had to yell at him for leaving me disturbing voicemails and making me think that something was seriously wrong...Just wait you will get it when you least expect it.

OK so that sums up most of the big things for now...Hope all of you guys out there are doing good! Drop me a note and let me know how you are.

It's a conspiracy!

I have come to the conclusion that Financial Aid is actually designed to keep people out of college rather than assist them with paying for college.

It is now nearing the end of week two in the Fall Semester and I still have not received any financial aid and they still have not paid for my classes. The professors expect you to buy books to take their class, the university expects you to pay for your classes, campus police expect you to buy a parking decal to park on campus, (the list goes on and on) but none of that can happen until financial aid gets off their duff and gets you some money.

I am literally borrowing books from my classmates so that I can photo copy the pages for the current chapters (which costs money).

This conspiracy is not just a local occurence. This is something that goes as far up as the U.S. Department of Education. All of their lies about how they process everything the next day, and how their is money available for anyone who wants to go to college. Well let me tell you the money may be available but actually getting your hands on it is harder than trying to convince the Pope that maybe Scientology is not all that bad.

I am not going to hold my breath any longer....I am starting to turn blue and I really cannot afford to lose any more of those precious brain cells. Otherwise, I mite staert spelin lyk dis. I know know....some of you may not see a difference in that and the way that I normally write but hey cut a brother some slack!
